Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers of all ages and all walks of life may choose from a wide variety of programs and events. At Oak Crest, the social, cultural, and recreational programs- coupled with our wood working and craft room, exercise area, library and garden provide you, your friends, or your family with endless volunteer choices and opportunities.
Make new friends while gaining companionships with new and wonderful individuals. Whatever your interest, Oak Crest has a program that is right for you. Oak Crest volunteers can enjoy social opportunities by coordinating and participating in special events with other volunteers including parties, dances, luncheon outings, community plays, concerts, and much more. The opportunities here are endless.
Examples of some Volunteer Opportunities, include, but are not limited to:

  • Letter writing - write letters for residents who suffer from vision problems
  • Crafts - assist with various craft activities or lead a craft activity
  • Gardening - assist residents with gardening in the courtyards and indoor gardening activities
  • Sing a longs - leading sing a long activities
  • Reading to a resident - read to low vision or bed-bound residents
  • Art Therapy Activities - assist with Art Therapy for Health Center and Personal Care residents
  • Special Events - plan special events, decorating, and hostessing
  • Baking for Special Events - bake for Oak Fest, Ice Cream Socials, and Christmas Tree Walk
  • Clerical - assist with mailings, phone calls, and filing
  • Ceramics - lend a hand with ceramics
  • Wood working - assist in woodworking projects
  • Shoppe - work in the Shoppe selling, organizing, merchandising, and purchasing
  • Library - assist residents as needed in using, organizing, and maintaining the current reading materials, books, and puzzles
  • Day Trip/Overnight - volunteers to accompany staff on 2-3 day trips and 1 overnight for Personal Care and Health Center Residents
  • Plant Care - water and maintain plants
  • Resource - collect names of people to provide entertainment or offer educational programs
  • Video camera - record special events
